Common Information

    AddressBook application is made to help you manage your web-addressbook.

    Using this application you can have your contacts online. You can add new, delete and edit existing contacts as well as importing and exporting your web contacts to MS Outlook (Express) application as a comma-separated data file.

    You can access your address book either via "Address Book" icon on your site page(s) or via address book icon in hostsadmin application.
    You have to be logged in both approaches.

Login

    You can login by clicking "Address Book" icon on your site page(s)
    Input your login and password into the corresponding fields of a newly openned window and click "Login" button.

Viewing Records

    A list of records(contacts) is shown right upon openning the application (right after successfull login).

Adding New Contact

    To add a new contact click on the "Add" button on the top or bottom button bar.
    A new window will be opened. Fill in the fields with actual data and click "Save" button.
    Remember to specify Last Name.

Editing a Contact

    To edit a contact click on either edit icon () or "Name" column.

Deleting a Contact

    To delete contact(s) select the contacts you want to delete (checkbox to the left) and click on the "Delete" button then.

Importing Contacts

    To import your address book to the address book web-application, please check that your file you're importing is a comma-separated data file.
    Click "Import" button and choose the file you wish to import in the "File" field, choose "Comma Separated" in the "Book Type" dropdown list.
    Click "Upload" button.

    After the file is uploaded and processed on the server, you'll be asked to confirm adding new contacts and replacing existing ones.
    Uncheck those you don't want to be added to your addressbook and click "Update" button.

Exporting Contacts

    To export contacts click on the "Export" button.
    Choose a separator you want to use (comma by default).
    Uncheck the fields you don't want to be exported. Click "Download" button.
    A standard download dialog will be raised. Choose location you wish the export file be stored and click "Ok";

Synchronizing Contacts

    To synchronize contacts from your local and web address books you need to have a specialized win 32 application called "Address Book Synchronizer".
    This application requires Windows 95 or higher OS and MS Outlook or MS Outlook Express installed.


    The application works the following way:
    Login

      You need to login with your web address book login and password to work with the application (when not logged you can change settings only).
      After you logged in the application builds the different records lists.

    Building Different Records List
      Application builds three lists:
      1. Records Only in Local Address Book - records those are found only in the local address book.
      2. Records Only in Web Address Book - records those are found only in the web address book.
      3. Records with Differences Between Them - records those have identical key values but still have differences in other values.

      User can choose what to do with each record in every list, i.e. "Add To Web", "Remove From Local" for Only in Local Address Book list; "Add To Local", "Remove From Web" for Only in Web Address Book list; and "Use Local", "Use Web" for Records With Differences list.

    Synchronizing Records
      After user have finished with choosing what to do with each record he should click on "Finish" button to commit changes.
      On clicking the "Finish" button, application create backup copies of the Web and Local address books. User can restore books from backup copies clicking on "Undo" button.
      After the backup is done application commit changes to web and local address books. Remember, user has to have a connection to the internet while commit is in process.
      After commit is done application will refresh list in order to keep actual information on screen.

    Getting Application

      After download is complete run the executable to install the application.
